Deshabitua and DES_Photomag coexist as complementary parts of a photographic ecosystem:

Deshabitua is the authorial space — conceptual, archival, and collector-focused, where each project exists as an investigation of change itself.

DES_Photomag is the curatorial platform — community-oriented, participatory, and accessible. It is a platform for giving back to photography community, while driving change in a visual environment dominated by scrolling, fleeting images, and selfie culture.

Deshabitua is a photographic investigation of mutamento — the enduring condition of change.

The work examines how urban transformation, ritual persistence, and movement within stillness, influence how time reshapes places, identities, and perception.

Each project — from the shifting streets of Porto in City on the Move to the timeless rituals of Entrudo de Misarela, the seasonal cycles of Arte Xávega, and the fleeting sparks of Ignitions — reflects on the permanence of transformation.

Andrés Gonzalez is a Spanish-Brazilian photographer based in Porto, Portugal.

His work blends documentary and artistic approaches to capture movement, time, and transformation in the urban and natural world.

González’s photography has been published internationally and recognized by the IPA Awards, Refocus, LFI, and more.

He is also the founder of DES_Photomag, a platform and print publication supporting emerging photographers, fostering talent over ego, and emphasizing the enduring value of print.
